Lafayette's Missy Farrand, American's Laura Miller and Colgate's Jacque DeMarco were selected by the Patriot League office as the field hockey weekly award winners for the week ending Sept. 14.
Farrand was tabbed the Offensive Player of the Week after guiding LC to a 2-1 overtime win against No. 4 Penn State. Miller gained the Defensive Player of the Week nod for the second-straight week after going 2-0, while DeMarco is the Freshman of the Week after helping Colgate to a pair of wins.
Offensive Player of the Week
MISSY FARRAND
Lafayette -- Jr., Forward (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood)
Farrand wins her first career Offensive Player of the Week award after lifting the Leopards to a shocking 2-1 overtime victory over No. 4 Penn State. The junior forward tied the game at 1-1 in the second half with a tally off of a Meredith Hahn pass. Farrand handed Lafayette the win when she caged a goal, once again off of a Hahn pass, in the 13th minute of the extra frame. Farrand has four goals and an assist on the season.

Defensive Player of the Week
LAURA MILLER

Miller claims Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the second-straight week after going 2-0. The senior netminder rejected a pair of shots to pick up her eighth career shutout, a 1-0 decision over Pacific. Sunday, Miller turned away three shots as AU toppled Rutgers, 4-0. Miller has not allowed a shot past her in 160:58. On the season, she is 4-1 with a 0.57 goals against average and 28 saves.

Freshman of the Week
JACQUE DeMARCO
Colgate -- Fr., Goalkeeper (Hudson, Ohio/Hudson)
DeMarco earns Freshman of the Week honors for the first time after helping Colgate pick up its first two wins of the 2003 campaign. The freshman netminder opened the week with a seven-save performance in a 2-0 win over Siena. The victory was her first career "W" and the first shutout of her young collegiate career. DeMarco also made four stops to lift CU to its first League win of the season, a 2-1 victory over Fairfield Saturday.
