CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Patriot League teams and student-athletes were honored recently by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) for success in the classroom during the fall semester.

Six Patriot League schools earned the Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award for achieving a team GPA of 3.0 or higher during the fall. American led all Division I schools with a 3.58 team GPA, while Boston University, Bucknell, Colgate, Holy Cross and Lafayette also received the distinction.

Nine Patriot Leaguers were recognized as Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I Scholars of Distinction for achieving a GPA of 3.90 or higher through the fall semester. The group from the Patriot League included American's Grace Parke and Natalie Konerth, Boston University's Ally Alfonso, Bucknell's Abby Watson and Anna Wills, Colgate's Kayla Robinson and Lafayette's Katelyn Arnold, Aliza Furneaux, and Casey White.

Those nine student-athletes were also part of the Patriot League's representation of 59 student-athletes who were named to the Gladiator by SGI / NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher through the fall semester. Each school had multiple honorees on the National Academic Squad, led by American with 16 student-athletes and Bucknell with 14. Four-time honorees included American's Jaclyn Anspach, Stephanie Burry and Alex McMackin, BU's Alfonso, Bucknell's Rachel Misko and Erica Perrine, Colgate's Kelsey Jensen and Holy Cross' Lindsay MacPhail.
