Center Valley, Pa.--American's Irene Schickhardt, the 2008 Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 71 field hockey student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

A senior international studies/economics major from Ludwigsburg, Germany, Schickhardt posted a 3.4 grade-point average in the fall. She is one of 17 student-athletes from American on this year's list, tied with Lafayette for the most of any school.

Three Patriot League field hockey student-athletes posted 4.0 GPAs in the fall. Melissa Casale, an undeclared freshman from American, Sarah Ebright, a junior civil engineering major from Bucknell, and Marci Richard, a freshman chemistry major from Bucknell, all recorded perfect GPAs in the fall semester.

Bucknell had 16 student-athletes on the list. Lehigh placed 10 student-athletes on the list, followed by Colgate with nine and Holy Cross with four.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
