CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Junior Shelby Romine's first career double-double helped lift Bucknell (7-4) to a 69-62 overtime win at St. Peter's Saturday night in Jersey City, N.J.
Romine scored a career-high 29 points, with 10 coming in the extra period, and hauled in 12 rebounds. Audrey Dotson (13 points, 13 rebounds) and Lindsay Horbatuck (11, 11) also logged double-doubles for the Bison, who won their second straight.
The Peahens took a 3-point lead early in overtime, but Romine's layup and then two free throws on the Bison's next possession tied the game at 59. Horbatuck sank a pair from the charity stripe to give Bucknell a 61-59 lead with two minutes left.
The Bison then took advantage of a St. Peter's cold streak of three consecutive misses, including two from deep. Romine scored four straight points in that span to lift Bucknell to a 65-59 lead with 30 seconds left.
Bucknell shot just under 35 percent for the game, but hit 3 of 5 from the field and 8 of 9 from the foul line in overtime. Romine finished 10 of 20 from the floor, including four of her team's six 3-pointers.
The schedule goes dark for several days for Christmas. Action resumes Dec. 28 with American visiting Drexel at 4 p.m., and Holy Cross at Florida at 7 p.m.
