CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Both Army and Boston University dropped road games on Wednesday night, with the Black Knights seeing an end to their seven-game win streak.
Army (7-2) lost its first game in eight outings, dropping a 67-57 decision at Penn. The Black Knights took a 49-46 lead on Olivia Schretzman’s and-one with 8:43 to play, but then went without a bucket for the next five minutes while the Quakers scored eight straight to take over the game. Penn ended the game on a 21-8 stretch. Kelsey Minato scored a team-high 20 points with four rebounds for her 25th straight double-digit effort, while Schretzman scored 11 points with seven boards. Penn shot 43.4 percent (23-of-53) for the game and 42.3 percent in the second half, while Army hit on just 30 percent (9-of-30) in the second half in falling behind.
Boston University (3-7) finished its stretch of six straight game away from Case Gym with a 63-52 loss at Boston College. Danielle Callahan paced the Terriers with 11 points and five assists, and Clodagh Scannell added 10 points and four rebounds off the bench. Sarah Hope’s 3-pointer gave BU a 20-17 lead with 6:18 left in the first half, but BC replied with nine straight points to move in front for the first time in the game. BU tied the game at 30-all at the 17:05 mark of the second half, but BC’s Kelly Hughes sank back-to-back treys to cap a 14-4 run that put the Eagles in front 44-34 with 13:43 left. BC led by as many as 17 points later in the game.
Army stays on the road for the next game on the Patriot League women’s basketball slate when the Black Knights visit Ohio State on Friday at 7 p.m. It’s the only tilt on the schedule that night.
