CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy fell into an early hole and couldn't overcome the deficit in a 73-57 loss to Princeton at Alumni Hall in Annapolis, Md., on Friday night.
M.L. Morrison led the Mids with 11 points and Sandita Condie chipped in 10, both off the bench. None of Navy's starting five hit double figures, with Kara Pollinger scoring nine and Audrey Bauer eight.
A 50 percent shooting clip from the field stakes the Tigers to a 36-22 lead at halftime. Navy hit just 9-of-30 (30 percent) in the first 20 minutes. Princeton used an 11-0 run to turn an early 5-4 deficit into a 15-5 lead and, after Navy had cut it to a three-point game, orchestrated a 14-0 spurt to take a 29-12 lead with less than five minutes until halftime. Princeton extended its lead to as many as 23 in the second, and the Mids could not shoot themselves back into the game. Navy was 3-of-13 in the second from downtown and 7-of-28 (25 percent) for the game.
Saturday's schedule features five games. Holy Cross looks for its best start in program history when it hosts Fordham at 1 p.m. on Patriot League Network. That's the first of two PLN presentations on the day, with Bucknell hosting Penn at 4 p.m. Three teams are on the road, with Army, riding a six-game win streak, visits Yale at 2 p.m., Colgate is at Columbia for a 4 p.m. start and Loyola Maryland sees its first action since Sunday with a 4:30 p.m. tip at Mount St. Mary's.
