CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After a busy schedule with five games on Wednesday, Lafayette was the only team in action on Thursday in Patriot League women's basketball. The Leopards didn't disappoint as they pulled away for a 61-45 win at NJIT to run the League's overall win streak to 11 straight games dating back to Sunday.
Emily Homan balanced out her scoring with eight points in the first half and 10 more in the second to pace the Leopards, while Madeline Fahan added 14 points on 5-of-7 from the floor and eight rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench. Lafayette (6-2) opened the game on a 7-0 run and took a 22-11 lead with 8:03 left in the first on a Jamie O'Hare trey. After settling for a 27-22 halftime advantage, the Leopards rebuilt a double-figure lead at 44-33 with 10:41 to play on Linnel Macklin's bucket. Homan scored her final points of the game on a layup with 6:03 to play, and Maddie Peabody's 3-pointer with 5:18 on the clock put the Leopards up to stay at 49-37. Lafayette shot 44 percent from the field and outscored the Highlands 13-9 from the foul line. The Leopards turned 14 NJIT turnovers into 18 points.
