Briana McFadden and Bethany O'Dell live with Californian Samantha Surface, and sometimes their roommate will get wee-hour phone calls from her West Coast friends who forget about the time difference. There's nothing like a middle-of-the-night ring to jolt the rest of the dorm room out of their sweet dreams.
"Not Bri," O'Dell said with a laugh. "She can sleep through absolutely anything. I can be up late working and have all the lights on and I'll say, `Bri, Bri.' No answer."
Actually, there's not much that bothers McFadden and that includes opposing defenders. The Holy Cross junior is one of the toughest players in the Patriot League to guard.
In fact, McFadden was the Patriot League's best player last year -- and the preseason pick to repeat the honor. Holy Cross coach Bill Gibbons is certainly not disputing last year's Player of the Year award, but he thinks what McFadden accomplished as a freshman may have been even more impressive.
