Amy Lepley signed her letter of intent to play basketball at Holy Cross on Nov. 18, 2008 and it was an exciting day for her and her family. The stress of picking a school was over and she could focus on having fun during her senior season at Bishop Feehan High School.

But two games in, as she went to the basket for a fast-break layup, Lepley tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her knee. Her high school career was over and her freshman season at Holy Cross was in question. Lepley broke the news to HC coach Bill Gibbons after the results of an MRI revealed what she knew the instant the injury happened.

“Obviously she was devastated,” Gibbons said, “but knowing her and knowing her work ethic, I was confident she’d come back. You never really know with that injury, but I never had any doubts she’d overcome it.”
