Lehigh's Kerry Kinek was named Anaconda Patriot League Rookie of the Week for the sixth time Monday.
Feb. 25, 2013
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The regular season is hitting the home stretch and the Patriot League Women's Basketball Tournament is on the horizon, and two crucially important performances last week were recognized Monday as the games take on more and more meaning.
Navy junior forward Jade Geif was named the Anaconda Player of the Week, while Lehigh freshman forward Kerry Kinek was honored as the Anaconda Rookie of the Week for the Feb. 18-24 period.
Geif tallied her 1,000th career point in Saturday's win over Colgate, and has been named Player of the Week four times this season, including three times in the last five weeks.
Kinek is now a six-time Rookie of the Week selection, having collected the award each of the last three weeks. She is one behind Army's Kelsey Minato, who leads this season with seven awards.
The second-to-last set of Patriot League women's basketball games will be Wednesday. The slate features Army going to Holy Cross, Navy hosting Lehigh, Lafayette entertaining Colgate and Bucknell traveling to American. Tip times are set for 7 p.m.
