Patriot League Announces Women's Basketball Weekly Awards Army's Minato, Lehigh's Kinek complete rookie sweep of Monday honors
Army's Kelsey Minato was named Anaconda Player of the Week for the second time this season Monday.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - A pair of freshmen who have paced their teams all season long were rewarded with weekly honors in Patriot League women's basketball from Anaconda Monday. Army freshman guard Kelsey Minato was named Player of the Week, and Lehigh freshman Kerry Kinek captured the Rookie of the Week nod for the Feb. 11-17 period.
Minato picked up her second Player of the Week award this season (Jan. 21), giving her nine total honors on the season. She's also a seven-time Rookie of the Week honoree, one shy of the League record.
No stranger to recognition this season, Kinek garnered her second straight and fifth overall Rookie of the Week citation.
Just four sets of League games remain before the Patriot League Tournament. Wednesday's slate features Navy visiting American, Bucknell entertaining Lehigh, Holy Cross going to Lafayette and Colgate welcoming Army. All games are set for 7 p.m., and previews will be available in Tuesday's weekly release.
ANACONDA PLAYER OF THE WEEK KELSEY MINATO, ARMYFr., G, Huntington Beach, Calif. Minato was big again for the Black Knights, who won a pair of League games last week, including Saturday's 48-40 win at Navy to lift them into a first-place tie with the Mids at 8-2 in the Patriot League. Minato averaged 19.5 points and 6.0 rebounds for the week after scoring 20 in Wednesday's 70-57 win at home over Lafayette, and adding 19 against the Mids Saturday. She shot 13 of 26 (50 percent) from the floor for the week, including 4 of 8 on 3-pointers, and played all 40 minutes of both contests. She leads the League in scoring during conference games at 16.5, and has 10 games this season in which she's reached double digits in points.
ANACONDA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK KERRY KINEK, LEHIGHFr., F, Whitehall, Pa. Kinek was a big part of both Lehigh victories last week. The freshman forward logged 20 points on 9-of-15 shooting from the floor and 2-of-4 from the free throw line with 11 rebounds to lead the Mountain Hawks to a 71-55 win at American Wednesday. She added 16 points and seven rebounds Saturday as Lehigh ran away from Colgate 62-40, giving the Mountain Hawks their first League win at home. Kinek shot 14 of 26 (53.8 percent) from the field last week, and averaged 18.0 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 2.0 steals.
HONORABLE MENTIONS JOSIE STOCKILL, COLGATEFr., F, Napier, New Zealand Averaged 11.5 points and 6.5 rebounds in the Raiders' 1-1 week. Scored 14 points with seven boards in Wednesday's 58-51 win over Bucknell.
ALEX SMITH, HOLY CROSSJr., G, Delran, N.J. Scored 20 points with six assists in the Crusaders' 73-63 win over American Saturday. Averaged 14.0 points on the week and moved into the League's single-season top 10 in made 3-pointers for the third time with six in the two games.
MADDIE PEABODY, LAFAYETTESo., G, Louisville, Ky. Averaged 14.5 points while shooting 9 of 16 from the floor (and 7 of 9 from beyond the arc) during Lafayette's 1-1 week. Scored 15 points with four assists in Saturday's 66-61 overtime win at Bucknell.
JADE GEIF, NAVYJr., F, Lakeville, Minn. Posted a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double in Saturday's 48-40 loss to visiting Army. Averaged 12.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists on the week. Scored 13 in Wednesday's 59-35 win over Holy Cross.
