CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Following two losses in their last three games, Navy's lead in the Patriot League has shrunk to a mere half-game over rival Army and one game over American.

Patriot League Notebook

Crowded at the Top
Following two losses in their last three games, Navy's lead in the Patriot League has shrunk to a mere half-game over rival Army and one game over American. Bucknell will travel to Annapolis, Md. Wednesday for a rematch of their wild 94-92 double overtime affair played at Sojka Pavilion last month. Second place Army hosts Holy Cross, American travels to Lehigh, Boston University entertains Colgate and Lafayette travels to Loyola University Maryland to round out the rest of the Patriot League slate.

Protect The Home Court
Army's 54-48 win over Navy on Saturday gives the Black Knights a perfect 11-0 mark at Christl Arena this season with two home games remaining. Overall, seven of the ten Patriot League teams have a winning record at home. Following Army is Navy with a 9-3 mark at Alumni Hall, Bucknell with a 8-2 record at Sojka Pavilion and American at 8-3 in Bender Arena. Holy Cross (8-4), Lehigh (7-4) and Lafayette (5-4) are also better than .500 at home.

Patriot League Teams with High Marks in NCAA RPI
The Patriot League has enjoyed a strong season overall, and it shows with six teams in the top 150 of the NCAA RPI rating entering the week. Navy holds the highest mark at No. 63, followed by Army (81), American (117), Lafayette (120), Bucknell (124) and Holy Cross (148). Navy also comes in at No. 18 in Tuesday's Mid-Major top 25, with Army as the first team in the receiving votes category.

1,000-Point Scorers
Seven active Patriot Leaguers are in the 1,000-point club, and one is now a 1,500-point scorer. Holy Cross' Alex Smith reached the 1,500 mark on Feb. 1, and her career total currently stands at 1,525. Smith is followed on the 1,000-point list by Bucknell's Shelby Romine (1,421), Navy's Jade Geif (1,363), American's Alexis Dobbs (1,147), Navy's Alix Membreno (1,096), Boston University's Rashidat Agboola (1,078) and Army's Jen Hazlett (1, 042).

Closing in on 1,000
Navy should soon become the only Patriot League women's program to claim four 1,000 point scorers in a single class. Seniors Audrey Bauer (992) and Kara Pollinger (977) are poised to join Geif and Membreno in reaching this milestone. Lafayette junior Emily Homan (982) is also closing in on the mark as is Holy Cross senior Brisje Malone (968).

Grab the Boards!
Rebounding continues to play a big role in Patriot League play as many teams are winning with big edges on the glass. On Saturday, four of five victorious teams held a rebounding edge with Lehigh leading the way with a whopping 52-32 advantage over Loyola. Only Boston University was able to overcome a rebounding disadvantage in a road win at Lafayette.

League Trends
Three road teams won on Saturday to cut the home/road advantage to 32-27 in Patriot League action. Army is the only team that is undefeated at home in League action, while Navy lost for the first time on the road. More than half of the games, 33 out of 59, have been decided by 10 points or more with 26 finishing with a margin of less than 10 points and 16 coming down to a five-point difference or less.

NCAA Leaders
Patriot League teams and individuals are showing up all over the top spots on the NCAA statistical leaderboard. Entering the week, Army's Kelsey Minato is 28th in the country with 20.3 points per game, and also ranks 12th nationally from the foul line at 90.2%. American's Alexis Dobbs was a perfect 8-for-8 from the charity stripe in a win over Colgate and slots in right behind Minato at 89.7%. The highest individual spot belongs to Navy's Kara Pollinger, who is seventh in the country with a 46.0% mark from three-point range. Lafayette's Danielle Fiacco is 12th in he NCAA in blocks at 3.09 per game. American moved up a spot to sixth nationally in scoring defense (54.4 points per game), 26th in FG percentage defense (35.9%) and 48th in scoring margin (+10.2 ppg) according to the latest NCAA figures. Navy is sixth in turnovers (11.9 per game) and eighth in three-point field goals (9.1 per game). Army is eighth in three point field goal percentage (38.2%).

Patriot League Squads Finish Strong Non-League Campaign
Patriot League schools finished with a 63-58 non-League mark last season, and have done even better this year with a record of 61-50 in non-League action during the regular season. League teams went 10-3 versus the MAAC, 9-4 against the America East, 7-4 against the NEC, 6-6 versus the Atlantic 10 and 9-9 against the Ivy League.

*Crusaders hold a 33-21 advantage in the series that dates back to 1991.
*Black Knights have won the last two meetings, including a 70-57 win last month in Worcester, Mass.

AMERICAN American's 75-57 road win Saturday over Colgate coupled with Army's 54-48 victory over first place Navy moved the Eagles to within one game of the Mids at the top of the Patriot League standings. American trailed the Raiders by one with 16 minutes remaining before the Patriot League's top defense (54.4 ppg) clamped down and held the hosts to only 14 points the rest of the way. ... The Eagles are currently sixth nationally in scoring defense, 26th in FG percentage defense (35.9%) and 48th in scoring margin (+10.2 ppg) according to the latest NCAA figures. ... Junior forward Arron Zimmerman scored 19 points to lead the Eagles in win over Colgate and Jen Dumiak contributed 16 points and five assists... Senior guard Alexis Dobbs was a perfect 8-for-8 from the free throw line to move into second place in the Patriot League in free throw shooting at 89.7%. ... American sits all alone in third place on Wednesday when they travel to Stabler Arena to take on Lehigh. The Eagles won the previous meeting between the two teams 70-61 last month.

ARMY The Black Knights made things crowded atop the Patriot League standings on Saturday when they defeated first place Navy 54-48 in the annual Star Game at Christl Arena. Kelsey Minato led a balanced attack from the Black Knights with 14 points and Jen Hazlett and Jean Parker added 12 apiece... Parker hit a career-high four three-pointers during a 4-of-5 showing from long range to finish with 12 points off the bench... With the victory, Army (9-2) closed to within one-half game of Navy (10-2) at the top of the Patriot League standings. American (9-3) is one-half game behind the Black Knights... Army is in the midst of a rare fifth straight home contest in the Patriot League. A road game scheduled for last week at Lehigh was rescheduled for Feb. 24... The Black Knights host Holy Cross on Wednesday at Christl Arena. Army has won three straight over the Crusaders, including a 70-57 victory at Bender Arena on Jan. 15.

BOSTON UNIVERSITY The Terriers ended a three-game losing streak by holding off Lafayette for a 61-59 victory at Kirby Sports Center. A 20-point, eight rebound performance by Rashidat Agboola helped propel the senior to her first Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week honor. Junior forward Mollie McKendrick added 19 points in the road win... Agboola became the fourth Terrier to reach 800 career rebounds. She currently is tied for 16th in Boston University history with 1,078 points and is fourth with 807 rebounds... Clodagh Scannell, a sophomore guard from Cork, Ireland has been a spark for the Terriers since being inserted in the starting lineup. Scannell has averaged 8.9 points and 5.1 rebounds in that stretch... Boston University is scheduled to host Colgate on Wednesday at Case Gymnasium. The Raiders picked up their only Patriot League win of the season by defeating BU 81-64 back on Jan. 15.

BUCKNELL Senior guard Shelby Romine scored 17 of her hame-high 19 points to help rally Bucknell from a 14-point second half deficit in an 82-79 win over Holy Cross at Sojka Pavilion. Romine also tied a career high with 11 rebounds... Sophomore Claire Maree O'Bryan came off the bench to score 16 points on 5-of-7 (.714) from the field, including 3-of-4 (.750) from long-range... The Bison have won eight of their last 11 contests after starting the season at 5-6... Audrey Dotson is second in the Patriot League in scoring at 16.5 points per game and Romine sixth at 15.0 ppg. Bucknell also has the top scoring freshman in Claire DeBoer at 10.1 ppg... The Bison are atop the Patriot League in Free Throw Percentage at 73.0%, which is good for 65th nationally... A trip to Navy is next up for Bucknell on Wednesday. The last time they met the two teams played one of the most entertaining games in the Patriot League this season. The Bison hit a pair of buzzer beaters to force two overtimes before falling 94-92 in double overtime at Sojka Pavilion on Jan. 15.

COLGATE The Raiders held a 44-43 lead with 16 minutes remaining, but American turned up the defense and held the hosts to only 14 points the rest of the way in a 75-57 victory at Cotterell Court. ... Colgate placed three players in double figures led by Carole Harris with 16 points. Josie Stockill added 11 and Missy Repoli chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds. ... Repoli made her first start of the season after scoring 39 points of the bench the previous two games. The junior from Marlboro, N.J. missed the final 11 games of the 2012-13 season due to illness. ... The women's basketball program welcomed back the members of the 2004 championship team for an Alumni weekend on Saturday. Ten years ago, the Raiders defeated American 71-60 for its first and only Patriot League championship. ... Colgate travels to Boston University on Wednesday. The Raiders picked up their only Patriot League win thus far this season over the Terriers 81-64 on Jan. 15 at Cotterell Court.

HOLY CROSS The Crusaders could not hold on to a 14-point lead midway through the second half in a disappointing 82-79 loss Saturday to Bucknell at Sojka Pavilion. Holy Cross led 63-49 following a pair of Alex Smith free throws, but were outscored 33-16 by the Bison over the final ten minutes... The Crusaders placed five players in double figures in the loss, led 16 from Lisa Mifsud and 15 apiece by Emily Parker and Brisje Malone... Smith, a senior from Delran, N.J., is one of six current Division I women's basketball players who have accumulated over 1,500 points, 500 assists and 400 rebounds in a career... Malone, a senior from Springield, Mass., is 32 points away from becoming the 30th player in Holy Cross history with 1,000 career points...The Crusaders travel to West Point, N.Y. on Wednesday to take on red-hot Army. The Black Knights have won five straight games and defeated the Crusaders 70-57 at the Hart Center on Jan. 15.

LAFAYETTE A furious Lafayette rally fell short on Saturday in a 61-59 loss to Boston University at Kirby Sports Center. The Leopards outscored the visitors 11-4 over the final five minutes, but could not erase a nine-point deficit. ... Junior guard Brya Freeland score d a season-high 13 points for Lafayette and Danielle Fiacco added 12 points and 10 rebounds. ... The loss ended a four-game win streak. The Leopards also won four straight contests to start the regular season. ... Forward Emily Homan is closing in on becoming the 16th 1,000 point scorer in the history of Lafayette women's basketball. The junior from Upper Darby, Pa. sits at 982 career points. Maureen McManus is the program leader with 1,813 from 1983-87. ... The Leopards travel to Loyola University Maryland on Wednesday. The start time of the game has been moved to 5 p.m. in advance of expected weather. Lafayette defeated the Greyhounds 65-53 at home back on Jan. 15.

LEHIGH Sophomore guard Elizabeth Jordan only logged seven minutes in the Mountain Hawks win over Loyola University Maryland on Saturday, but she was there went at counted as her three-point field goal with 5.4 second remaining lifted Lehigh to a 50-47 win at Reitz Arena. Jordan finished with six points on 2-for-5 shooting for downtown. ... A key to the Lehigh win was a domimant 52-32 advantage on the boards. Sixteen offensive rebounds resulted in 15 second-chance points for the Mountain Hawks. Kerry Kinek had a season-high 14 rebounds to go with nine points. Elizabeth Sharlow led the Lehigh scoring with 11 points. ... The victory was the first on the road for the Mountain Hawks since Nov. 23 and also gave them back-to-back wins for the first time since December. ... Next up is a home contest on Wednesday against surging American -- winners of three straight and eight of their last 10 contests. Lehigh lost to the Eagles 70-61 at Bender Arena on Jan. 15.

LOYOLA MARYLAND Lehigh hit a 3-pointer with three less than six seconds remaining to escape Reitz Arena with a 50-47 victory over Loyola University Maryland on Saturday afternoon. The Greyhounds outshot he Mountain Hawks from the field (31-27 percent) but were outrebounded by 20 (52-32) creating numerous second chance opportunities for the visitors. ... Freshman Lisa Mirarchi (nine points) led Loyola in scoring for the fourth time this season in loss to Lehigh. Her layup with 33 seconds remaining had tied the score at 47-all. ... Leading scorer Nai Brown (15.5 ppg) returned against Lehigh after missing the two previous games. ... The Greyhounds will try to end a four-game losing streak when they host Lafayette on Wednesday. The game time has been moved to 5 p.m. in advance of expected weather. ... The Leopards defeated Loyola 65-53 at Kirby Sports Center on Jan. 15.

NAVY Tied season lows for points scored and three-point field goal percentage (5-for-20) and made its second-fewest number of triples in a game this year in a 54-48 loss to Army Saturday afternoon at Christl Arena in West Point, N.Y. ... Jade Geif narrowly missed her seventh double-double in loss to Black Knights, finishing with 13 points and nine rebounds. The senior has 22 double-doubles during her career. ... Seniors Audrey Bauer and Kara Pollinger are closing in on reaching the 1,000 point plateau. Bauer enters Wednesday's contest with Bucknell at 992 points and Pollinger at 977. The duo would join classmates Geif and Alix Membreno as members of the 1,000 point club. No Patriot League women's team has had four players from the same class reach this milestone. ... The Mids lead the Patriot League in three-point field goals made at 9.1 per game. This is more than two 3-point field goals a game more than runnerup Boston University's 7.0 per game...Navy will look to complete the season sweep of Bucknell on Wednesday when they host the Bison at Alumni Hall. The Mids prevailed 94-92 in a double-overtime thriller on Jan. 15 in Lewisburg, Pa.
