CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Navy senior Alix Membreno and Bucknell freshman Claire DeBoer garnered Patriot League Women's Basketball Anaconda weekly awards on Monday for their performance in games from Jan. 13-19.

Membreno had a career-high 34 points in a 94-92 double overtime win at Bucknell on Wednesday and averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in two games as Navy has opened 6-0 in the Patriot League for the first time since 2011. She is named Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week for the first time.

DeBoer continued her run of Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week awards by claiming her third straight honor and fifth this season after averaging 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds in a 1-1 week for the Bison.

Honorable mention status went to Bucknell senior Shelby Romine, Colgate junior Carole Harris, Holy Cross sophomore Raquel Scott, Loyola Maryland junior Nai Brown, Lehigh sophomore Kerry Kinek and Army sophomore Kesley Minato.

ALIX MEMBRENO, NAVY Sr., G, 5-9; Loxahatchee, Fla./Saint Pius X
Membreno had the highest scoring output for a Patriot League player this season as she tallied 34 points while also grabbing nine rebounds as Navy outlasted Bucknell 94-92 in double overtime on Wednesday. The 34 points marked a career high as Membreno scored 12 of Navy's 21 points in the two overtimes. She had tied her previous career high of 22 by the end of regulation, and also went over 1,000 points for her career during overtime. Membrone chipped in all around the court on Saturday, scoring just four points but also pulling down 13 rebounds and dishing out six assists in a 71-40 win over Colgate. She averaged 19.0 points, 11.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists in the two games as Navy has opened 6-0 in the Patriot League for the first time since 2011. Membreno earns her first Patriot League Anaconda Player of the Week award.

 

 

Anaconda Rookie of the Week
CLAIRE DeBOER, BUCKNELL Fr., F, 6-1; Grosse Pointe, Mich./Grosse Pointe South
DeBoer continues her run of Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week honors after averaging 11.5 points and 8.5 rebounds as Bucknell split a pair of last-second contests at home. She recorded her fourth double-double of the season and third in Patriot League play with 15 points and 10 rebounds against Navy on Wednesday, but the Mids prevailed 94-92 in double overtime. Bucknell beat Army 56-55 on a buzzer-beater on Saturday as DeBoer chipped in eight points and seven rebounds in the win. DeBoer is averaging 10.8 points and 7.4 rebounds for the season and is putting up a double-double in Patriot League games with averages of 13.5 points and 10.3 rebounds over the first six contests. DeBoer is named Patriot League Anaconda Rookie of the Week for the third straight time, fourth in the last five and fifth overall this season.

SHELBY ROMINE, BUCKNELL Sr., G, 5-9; Centreville, Va./Westfield
Romine averaged 18.0 points and 4.5 assists in two games for the Bison, and hit a buzzer-beater to force a second overtime against Navy on Wednesday and another to beat Army 56-55 on Saturday.

CAROLE HARRIS, COLGATE Jr., F, 5-10; Lansing, Mich./Waverly
Harris averaged 19.0 points and 9.0 rebounds as the Raiders split a pair of games.

RAQUEL SCOTT, HOLY CROSS So., F, 6-0; Ridgewood, N.J./Immaculate Heart Academy
Scott averaged 19.0 points and 10.5 rebounds in two games for the Crusaders, with 23 points and 16 boards in an 87-82 loss at Lehigh on Saturday.

NAI BROWN, LOYOLA MARYLAND Jr., G, 5-9; Newark, Del./Sanford School
Brown had 28 points and eight rebounds in Loyola's 70-60 loss to Boston University on Sunday.

KERRY KINEK, LEHIGH So., F, 6-3; Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic
Kinek put up 15.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in a 1-1 week for the Mountain Hawks.

KELSEY MINATO, ARMY So., G, 5-8; Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach
Minato averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 assists and 4.5 rebounds as Army split its games last week.
