Center Valley, Pa.--Colgate sophomore Tayler Wejnert had to watch her team's first 10 games from the sidelines while sitting out the first semester as a transfer. She has made up for lost time, scoring 63 points in her first four games in a Colgate uniform. Wejnert and Bucknell freshman Trisha Krewson took home the latest Patriot League weekly awards.

Baden Player of the Week (Dec. 29-Jan. 4)
Tayler Wejnert, Colgate So., G, Ramsey, N.J.
Wejnert, a transfer from George Mason, did not play her first game in a Colgate uniform until Dec. 28. She has scored 63 points in four games since then, including 61 points in three games last week. Wejnert led the Raiders in scoring in all three of their games last week, helping Colgate pick up two wins. She scored a career-high 28 points against Norfolk State at the Fordham Holiday Classic, earning her a spot on the All-Tournament Team. For the week, Wejnert averaged 20.3 points per game and 4.3 rebounds per game. She made 55.6 percent of her field goals and connected on all 18 of her free throw attempts.
Baden Rookie of the Week (Dec. 29-Jan. 4)
Trisha Krewson, Bucknell Fr., G, Sandusky, Ohio
Krewson scored a career-high 11 points and dished out a career-high four assists in Bucknell's 75-57 win over Buffalo. She also matched a career-high with five rebounds while making her first career start. Offensively, Krewson made 5-of-8 shots from the field. On the defensive end, she produced a steal and a block. She helped the Bucknell defense limit the Bulls to 30 percent shooting, while also forcing 18 Buffalo turnovers.
Patriot League Notebook
In Review
Seven of eight Patriot League teams picked up victories last week. In weekend play, Patriot League teams won eight of 10 games. Lehigh, which owns the best record among Patriot League squads, won three of its four contests last week. The Mountain Hawks' lone loss occurred in a Sunday defeat at Akron. Lehigh moved to 7-0 at home with a Friday win against Fordham. American competed just twice last week, falling at Virginia Commonwealth before picking up a home win over Columbia. Army improved to 8-5 and extended its winning streak to three games with road wins over Manhattan and Brown. Bucknell won its second straight with a 75-57 triumph over Buffalo. The Bison are now 6-5. Navy, the lone Patriot League team without a win last week, dropped a 65-62 heartbreaker at Air Force to fall to 6-8. Lafayette remained undefeated at home with a 65-64 victory over Princeton. Colgate won two of three games last week, including a 57-41 win at Howard on Friday, to improve to 4-10. Also 4-10 is preseason favorite Holy Cross, which won back-to-back games for the first time this season. The Crusaders disposed of Dartmouth and Maine.
On Deck
Before Patriot League action tips off on Saturday, there are still seven non-League bouts on the schedule. Bucknell will play two non-League games before opening Patriot League play this weekend. The Bison will travel to Howard on Monday before hosting Cornell on Wednesday. Colgate and Navy will play their final non-League games on Monday. The Raiders will travel to Bryant, while the Mids will go to Fordham. American will tune up for League play with a Tuesday showdown with Brown. The final non-League games will feature Army and Holy Cross on Wednesday. The Black Knights will host Fairleigh Dickinson, while the Crusaders will welcome Bryant to Worcester, Mass.
Battle of the Leagues
Schools in the Patriot League and the Ivy League are widely regarded among the top academic institutions in the country. In addition to sharing academic goals, the two leagues have also shared a basketball court 14 times this season. Patriot League schools have battled the Ivy League more than any other conference this season. In the 15 meetings this season, Patriot League schools hold a 10-5 advantage. There are two more games between the two leagues during the regular season, both of which will be played this week. American will host Brown on Tuesday, while Bucknell will battle Cornell on Wednesday.
Colgate Continuing Its Climb
Colgate is one of 15 Division I teams that has already eclipsed its win total from a year ago. The Raiders have won four games this season, three more than it won all of last season. Only Fordham and Alabama have had better turnarounds so far. See complete release for entire list.
Team Notebooks
American After nearly upsetting Virginia Commonwealth on the road, American got back on the winning track with a 87-66 win over Columbia on Sunday. Freshman guard Kristin Coles did not miss a field goal in either of the Eagles' two games last week. Coles provided a spark off the bench, hitting all six of her shots from the field. Talicia Jackson, who hit three three-pointers against Columbia, is now 10 three-pointers short of the career record at American. The Eagles will wrap up non-League play with a Tuesday showdown against Brown before opening Patriot League competition at Lehigh.
Army Army won its third straight game, a 64-44 triumph at Brown on Sunday. The Black Knights have now won four straight road games. Army has won seven of its last eight games, with the lone loss coming against nationally-ranked Rutgers. Senior guard Alex McGuire was one point shy of matching a career-high against the Bears, notching a game-high 21 points. The win gave head coach Dave Magarity his 50th win at West Point. Army will play Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday before starting Patriot League play on Saturday at Colgate.
Bucknell Cosima Higham has now scored in double-figures in each of her last three games after registering 14 points in the Bison's 75-57 win over Buffalo. Four different players scored in double-figures for the Bison, led by Lauren Schober's 18 points. Bucknell forced 18 Buffalo turnovers and limited the Bulls to 30.5 percent shooting from the floor. Bucknell has won two straight games to improve its record to 6-5. The Bison will play non-League games against Howard and Cornell before opening up Patriot League play on Saturday against Navy at Sojka Pavilion.
Colgate The Raiders won two of three games last week, giving the Raiders four wins on the season. Colgate has already won three more games than it did all of last season and is two wins away from matching its win total from two seasons ago. George Mason transfer Tayler Wejnert, who did not play her first game in a Colgate uniform until Dec. 28, has averaged 15.8 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in four games with the Raiders. She has made all 18 of her free throw attempts. Wejnert and the Raiders will host Bryant on Monday before taking on Army on Saturday.
Holy Cross Holy Cross won back-to-back games for the first time this season, beating Maine at home on Friday before topping Dartmouth on the road on Sunday. The Crusaders' weekend wins were their first victories on non-neutral courts this season. Junior guard Briana McFadden continues to lead the Patriot League in scoring with 16.4 points per game. She is the only Patriot League player with more than 200 points this season (229). She is 37 points shy of 1,000 for her career. Holy Cross will play Bryant on Wednesday before squaring off against Lafayette in League play on Saturday.
Lafayette The Leopards remained undefeated at home with a 66-64 win over Princeton on Friday. Lafayette is now 6-0 at home and 0-9 away from the Kirby Sports Center. Cristin Zavocki averaged 14.3 points per game in three contests last week. She made five three-pointers against Virginia Tech and connected on all seven free throw attempts against Princeton. Zavocki has started all 15 games for the Leopards and leads the team with 10.8 points per game. Lafayette will begin Patriot League play on Saturday against Holy Cross.
Lehigh Without the services of injured Alex Ross, Lehigh won three of four games last week. The Mountain Hawks won their own Christmas City Classic before splitting games against Fordham and Akron. The loss to Akron on Sunday was Lehigh's first defeat in six games. The Mountain Hawks had won five straight games after Friday's home win against Fordahm. Lehigh has won all seven home games this season. Its last home loss was Feb. 23, 2008 against Lafayette. Lehigh will open the Patriot League slate against American.
Navy The Mids' two-game winning streak came to a close with a 65-62 loss at Air Force on Saturday. Sophomore center Cassie Consedine notched 16 points and 12 rebounds for her League-leading sixth double-double. Consedine and Angela Myers have combined for nine double-doubles, more than any other team in the Patriot League. The Mids will wrap up the non-League schedule with a Monday match-up at Fordham. Navy will open League play on Saturday at Bucknell.
