Colgate sophomore Mariah Jones was named Anaconda Player of the Week for the first time in her career Wednesday.

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – A pair of Patriot Leaguers capped off the 2012 calendar year with career performances and were rewarded with Anaconda weekly women’s basketball honors from the League Wednesday.
Colgate sophomore guard Mariah Jones was named the Anaconda Player of the Week, while Army freshman guard Kelsey Minato collected the Anaconda Rookie of the Week nod.
Both teams posted home victories last week in action between Christmas and New Year’s. The Raiders defeated New Hampshire 72-61 in Hamilton, N.Y., Saturday, while the Black Knights ran away from Bryant 67-51 at West Point, N.Y., Sunday.
Minato’s award brings Army’s Rookie of the Week haul so far this season to six nods in eight weeks.
Army is one of three League teams in action Wednesday, as the Black Knights visit Brown at 6 p.m. Bucknell is home for Cornell, while Lehigh is at Mount St. Mary’s, both at 7 p.m.
ANACONDA PLAYER OF THE WEEK
MARIAH JONES, COLGATE So., G, Silver Spring, Md.
Jones was all over the court in Colgate’s 72-61 victory over New Hampshire Saturday, contributing a career-best 25 points and tying for the team high with six rebounds. She played 30 minutes against the Wildcats without committing a turnover, and shot 8 of 13 from the field (5 of 10 from beyond the arc) and a perfect 4 of 4 from the free throw line. She also added a pair of steals, while her five made 3-pointers tied her career high. Jones picks up her first career Player of the Week nod. She was a Rookie of the Week selection Dec. 19, 2011.
ANACONDA ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
KELSEY MINATO, ARMY Fr., G, Huntington Beach, Calif.
Minato was stellar in scoring a career-high 24 points on 8 of 10 from the floor, including a fiery 5-of-7 effort on 3-pointers, as Army ran away from Bryant 67-51 at West Point Sunday. She collected her totals during a game-high 37 minutes, in which she also collected six rebounds and dished a pair of assists. It’s her second game of five 3-pointers this season, while her 22 shots from beyond the arc lead the Black Knights. Her 24 points are the most by an Army freshman this season, and the second-highest by a Black Knight in 2012-13. Minato collects her third Rookie of the Week honor this season.
ALEXIS DOBBS, AMERICAN Jr., G, Berea, Ohio
Dobbs averaged 12.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game in a pair of American victories last week. She scored 17 points and was 5 of 6 from beyond the arc in a 58-52 win at Drexel, and scored the game-winning bucket with 0.2 seconds left in a 48-46 victory at Mount St. Mary’s.
ALEX SMITH, HOLY CROSS Jr., G, Delran, N.J.
Smith scored team highs in points in both Holy Cross contests last week, logging 14 against Florida and 15 versus Bethune-Cookman during a 1-1 week. She also averaged 4.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 1.5 assists in 35.5 minutes per game.
DANIELLE FIACCO, LAFAYETTE Jr., C, Brewster, N.Y.
Fiacco averaged 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.5 blocks per game as Lafayette finished second in the Fordham Holiday Classic in Bronx, N.Y. She narrowly missed double-doubles in both outings, and had five blocks against Providence in the title game.
AUDREY BAUER, NAVY Jr., F, Lake Zurich, Ill.
Bauer tallied her first career double-double while tying her career best with 18 points and 12 rebounds in Navy’s 67-51 win over Marshall Sunday. She shot 8 of 14 from the field and dished two assists.
