NSCAA Release | NSCAA Regional Coaches of the Year

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – A total of 13 men’s soccer players from the Patriot League were named to the Continental Tire All-Mid-Atlantic Region team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) on Tuesday.

In addition, Navy's Dave Brandt picked up NSCAA Middle Atlantic Region Coach of the Year honors from the organization.

A total of 33 players were honored. Patriot League players accounted for nearly 40 percent of those honored from the Mid-Atlantic region.

Patriot League Champion Navy led with four selections, including a pair on the first team in junior defender Joseph Greenspan and sophomore forward Jamie Dubyoski. Both were major award winners when the All-Patriot League honors were announced last month. Greenspan was the Defensive Player of the Year, and Dubyoski collected Offensive Player of the Year accolades from the 10 head coaches. Sophomore defender Derek Vogel and senior midfielder Martin Sanchez, also All-League picks, were named to the second team.

Brandt was named Patriot League Coach of the Year for the first time after guiding the Mids to a perfect 9-0-0 ledger in the League and the No. 1 seed in the League Tournament. The Mids defeated Bucknell and Holy Cross en route to the program's first League crown and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. In making its first trip to the NCAA bracket since 1988, Navy posted a 3-0 shutout victory at VCU in the first round before bowing 2-1 to No. 14 seed Wake Forest.

Bucknell was second among League teams with three All-Mid-Atlantic selections. Senior defender Mayowa Alli and sophomore striker Jesse Klug were named to the first team, while sophomore Chris Thorsheim was a second-team pick at midfield.

Two players were honored from Loyola Maryland, with both earning second-team laurels. Senior midfielder Stephen Dooley was recognized alongside sophomore forward Larry Ndjock.

American, Army, Boston University and Holy Cross each placed one student-athlete on the squad. Army junior Winston Boldt, the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year, was a first-team pick. American senior defender Cristobal Soto, BU junior midfielder Dominique Badji and Holy Cross senior midfielder Monty Sanders were named to the third team.

Twelve players who were NSCAA All-Region selections were also All-Patriot League picks.

The NSCAA plans to release its All-America team on Friday.
