Center Valley, Pa. - Colgate senior defender Daniel Kerley, Bucknell junior forward Chris Hennings and Lafayette junior defender Matthew Reichenbach were honored as CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Academic All-Americans, the organization announced Wednesday. Kerley was named to the First Team, Hennings was a Second-Team selection and Reichenbach was a Third-Team pick.
Kerley, a Third-Team Academic All-America pick in 2007, is the first Colgate player in program history selected to the First Team. An economics major with a 3.83 grade-point average, Kerley is a team captain who helped anchor a Raider defense that allowed only 14 goals all season and helped Colgate win its second-straight Patriot League title on Sunday.
With Hennings' Second Team selection, Bucknell has the most men's soccer student-athletes named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team of any Patriot League school with four. The junior forward tied for second in the Patriot League with seven goals and was second only to teammate Conor O'Brien in points with 18. A history major with minors in Spanish and mathematics, Hennings has a 3.66 grade-point average.
Reichenbach is the first Lafayette student-athlete selected as an Academic All-American since Michael Tortora was named to the First Team in 2004. A junior civil engineering major with a 3.96 grade-point average, Reichenbach helped Lafayette make its seventh-straight Patriot League Tournament appearannce last weekend.
