Center Valley, Pa. - After helping their teams to big victories over the weekend, a pair of Patriot League soccer student-athletes received weekly recognition from the ECAC on Tuesday.
Navy senior defender Julie Reynolds earned ECAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Bucknell junior midfielder Conor O'Brien received the organization's Men's Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week award. Both players previously received Patriot League honors on Monday.
Reynolds headed in a free kick in the 15th minute for the eventual game-winning goal in Navy's 1-0 victory at Colgate on Saturday, while also helping the defense pitch a shutout. The victory secured the No. 1 seed and hosting privileges for the Mids in this weekend's Patriot League Women's Soccer Tournament, which begins Friday in Annapolis with Navy facing No. 4 seed Colgate.
O'Brien helped Bucknell stay alive in the race to earn a berth in the Patriot League Men's Soccer Tournament with two goals, including the game-winner, in the Bison's 3-2 win at Lehigh. The Bison came back from a 2-0 deficit to earn the win, with O'Brien scoring the winning goal on a free kick in the 64th minute. O'Brien and Bucknell will travel to American in the regular-season finale on Saturday.
Reynolds is the fourth Patriot League women's soccer student-athlete to earn ECAC recognition this season, while O'Brien is the fifth men's soccer player honored by the organization.
