Complete 2010 Patriot League Men's Soccer Academic Honor Roll Get Acrobat Reader

Center Valley, Pa. – American’s Matt Makowski, the 2010 Patriot League Men’s Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 86 men’s soccer student-athletes named to this year’s Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.

Makowski, a junior Biology major from Quakertown, Pa., posted a 3.925 grade-point average during the fall semester.

Seven student-athletes posted grade-point averages of 4.0 or higher in the fall. Army had two who surpassed the mark in sophomore Mitch Johnson, a Mechanical Engineering major with a 4.085 GPA, and Michael Fiuk, a sophomore studying Economics with a 4.064 GPA. Two of Makowski’s teammates recorded a 4.0 GPA in the fall, including senior Jon Freimark, an International Studies major, and junior Physical major Michael Roberts. The other three to post 4.0s in the fall were Bucknell junior Marc Hartmann, a Management major; Lehigh senior Engineering Physics major Jonathan Nydell; and Navy’s Sam Miller, a junior Mechanical Engineering major. Miller also earned CoSIDA/ESPN First-Team Academic All-District honors.

American and Navy each placed a League-best 14 student-athletes on this year’s list, followed by Lafayette with 13 and Bucknell with 12. Army and Lehigh both reached double digits with 10 student-athletes apiece.

To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the semester of their sport’s competition.
