CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - American's Colin Seigfreid, the 2012 Patriot League Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 99 men's soccer student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Seigfreid, a junior business administration major from Pittsburgh, Pa., posted a 3.92 grade-point average during the fall semester.
Five student-athletes posted perfect 4.0 GPAs in the fall, led by three from the U.S. Naval Academy. Navy senior honors systems engineering major Eric Wootten logged a perfect fall GPA, as did junior teammate Zach Davis, an oceanography major, and sophomore Mid Michael Lemonick, a mathematics major. Lafayette senior biology major Zach Winthrop and Colgate sophomore Frankie Bergonzi also posted perfect 4.0s in the fall. Bergonzi is undeclared.
The list of 98 student-athletes on the Academic Honor Roll also boasts nine of the 11 members of the Academic All-Patriot League team for men's soccer that was released in November.
Bucknell led the 2012 list with 16 selections, followed closely behind by American with 15. Patriot League champion Lafayette was next with 13 on the honor roll, followed by Lehigh (12), Colgate (12), Holy Cross (11), Army (10) and Navy (10).
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the semester of their sport's competition.
