2008 Patriot League Men's Soccer Academic Honor Roll ![]()
Center Valley, Pa. - Army's A.J. Glubzinski, the 2008 Patriot League Men's Soccer Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 88 men's soccer student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll.
Glubzinski heads up the list after posting a 4.11 grade-point average in the fall. The senior from Novi, Mich., was a Rhodes Scholar candidate and a finalist for the 2008 Lowe's Senior CLASS Award for men's soccer. Glubzinski is one of four Patriot League men's soccer student-athletes to earn at least a 4.0 GPA in the fall. American's Jon Freimark, a sophomore international studies major, earned a 4.0, as well as teammate and 2008 Patriot League Rookie of the Year Matt Makowski, an undeclared freshman. Lafayette's Matthew Reichenbach also earned a 4.0 GPA for the fall term. The junior civil engineering major was honored late last year as a CoSIDA/ESPN the Magazine Third-Team Academic All-America selection.
American placed 20 student-athletes on this year's list, the most of any Patriot League school. Bucknell and Colgate added 14 to the list.
To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the fall semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's seven fall championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
