Within minutes of speaking with senior men's soccer captain and goalie Thomas Booth, it is easy to understand why sports and family are so important to him. He's been involved in sports since he was born, spending his childhood on the sidelines cheering on his two older brothers, Dennis and Dave, who went on to play college lacrosse. Adam Welch never had to look far to find his goal. The former Moravian Academy soccer star grew up in Bethlehem and only had to look a few miles in one direction to make Lehigh University his college of choice. When he arrived, the standout offensive player found an immediate home at the opposite end of the field, playing outside defender in a back four that included first team All-American John O'Reilly and third-team All-American Joe Verdi. Jeff Leach Becomes A Winner For Colgate
Jeff Leach scored in the 12th minute as the Colgate Red Raiders opened the collegiate men's soccer season with a 1-0 win over Long Island last week. A 2007 graduate of New Canaan High School, Leach is in his second season with the Red Raiders after transferring to Colgate from Wake Forest.
