Center Valley, Pa.--Seven Patriot League student-athletes were named to the 2009 Inside Lacrosse Face-Off Yearbook Preseason All-America Team on Monday afternoon. Navy short stick defensive midfielder Geoff Leone and Colgate attackman Brandon Corp headline the group, as both were named to the First Team. Also named Preseason All-Americans were Navy's Andy Tormey, Tim Paul and Jaren Woeppel, and Bucknell's Austin Winter and Billy Haire.

Corp, a senior, has been named All-Patriot League three times in his career. He earned All-American status in both his sophomore and junior campaigns. He also received Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year honors the last two seasons. He racked up 41 goals as a junior.

Also a senior, Leone has earned All-Patriot League recognition twice in his career. Leone earned All-American honors a year ago after anchoring one of the stingiest defensive units in the country. Leone helped the Navy defense rank as the top defensive squad in the country for seven consecutive weeks.

Three of Leone's teammates were named to the team, as well. Senior defenseman Andy Tormey was named to the Second Team, while junior attackman Tim Paul and junior long stick defensive midfielder Jaren Woeppel received honorable mention. Tormey and Woeppel helped Leone create a formidable defensive unit that limited 16 of its foes to seven or fewer goals. As a sophomore a year ago, Paul paced the Mids with 26 goals, while adding five assists.

Rounding out the Patriot League selections were Bucknell's Austin Winter and Billy Haire, who both received honorable mention. A two-time All-Patriot League selection, Winter has led the Bison in points the last two seasons, including a League-best 49 points as a freshman two seasons ago. Haire, a senior, has emerged as one of the top defenders the nation. He has been named to the All-Patriot League Team in each of the last two seasons.

Colgate claimed the 2008 Patriot League Tournament championship, joining Navy as one of two Patriot League squads to advance to the NCAA Tournament. The Mids advanced to the NCAA quarterfinals.
