Inside Lacrosse Release
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The 2013 Patriot League men’s lacrosse battle between Colgate and Navy will take place as part of the Konica Minolta Face-Off Classic, it was announced Monday by Inside Lacrosse magazine. The showdown is set for March 23 at 2 p.m. at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore.
The Raiders and Mids will face off at 2 p.m. as the first part of the nationally prominent doubleheader in Baltimore. Virginia will take on Johns Hopkins in the second contest at 4:30 p.m.
Navy went to Hamilton, N.Y., and came away with a last-second 12-11 victory over the Raiders in their regular-season meeting last year. Each of the last five contests between the programs have been decided by a single goal.
Colgate is coming off its best season in program history, where it hosted the Patriot League Tournament, earned an at-large berth to the NCAA Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals. The Raiders return the reigning Tewaaraton and Enners awards winner in senior Peter Baum.
Navy is eyeing a return to the League tournament after narrowly missing out each of the last two seasons. The Mids will look to ride the momentum off a dominant 8-2 win over Johns Hopkins at the end of 2012 into 2013.
2013 marks the League’s return to M&T Bank Stadium. Army and Navy played their annual regular-season tilts there in 2009 and 2010.
