Two Patriot League Student-Athletes Named To Academic All-America Teams

Center Valley, Pa. - Two Patriot League student-athletes were recognized as a Academic All-Americans for men's at-large sports by ESPN the Magazine and the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA), it was announced Tuesday. Army senior lacrosse player Scott Rosenshein was named a first-team selection, while Navy senior swimmer Nathan Durham was placed on the third team.

Named as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year for Men's Lacrosse twice, Rosenshein was a Chemical Engineering major with a 3.99 G.P.A. at the United States Military Academy. A native of Montclair, N.J., he was a three-year starter on defense for the Cadets who had 21 ground balls in 2009. A seven-time winner of the Superintendent's Award for Excellence, he is a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Gamma Sigma Epsilon. Rosenshein was also the recipient of the American Institute of Chemists Foundation Student Award.

Durham, a recent Naval Academy from Greensboro, N.C., compiled a 3.74 GPA during his four years at Navy. The ocean engineering major was named to the Superintendent's List six times in his career and received Dean's List recognition in each of his remaining two semesters. Now an Ensign in the Navy, Durham will soon report to flight school to begin training as a pilot.

Both student-athletes received the national recognition after earning First-Team All-District accolades in late May. To be eligible for the initial district ballot, student-athletes must have attained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30, be at least a sophomore academically and a starter or key reserve on their respective team.

The list of men's at-large sports consists of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.
