2008 Major League Lacrosse Collegiate Draft Results
The 2008 Major League Lacrosse (MLL) Collegiate Draft list included four student-athletes from the Patriot League. Colgate had two selections in the five-round draft that took place on Wednesday evening - Matt Lalli and Chris Eck. Army's Adam Fullerton and Navy's Nick Mirabito were also taken in the professional draft.
Lalli was the first Patriot League player to be picked in this year's draft going in the second round as the 16th overall selection to the San Francisco Dragons. Lalli was a third-team All-America pick this year and became a three-time All-Patriot League selection as a midfielder. He was second in the Patriot League in assists with 27 and was third in points with 47.
Colgate's other MLL selection was Chris Eck who was taken as the 38th overall pick in the fourth round by the Boston Cannons. The Raiders' face-off specialist earned his third All-Patriot League mention this season, ranking first in the League in face-off percentage (.609) and ground balls (83).
Fullerton was the first goalie taken in the draft as the Rochester Rattlers selected him as the 28th overall pick in the third round. Fullerton earned third-team All-American status earlier in the week after taking home his second-straight Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year honor. The senior netminder paced the League in goals against average (7.29) and save percentage (.615) and registered 168 saves.
Rounding out the Patriot League's MLL selections was Mirabito, who was taken by the New Jersey Pride in the fifth round as the 43rd pick. A two-time First-Team All-Patriot League honoree, Mirabito earned his first career All-America nod this season as an honorable mention. He led the Mids in points this year with 46 on 23 goals and 23 assists.
The Patriot League has had 18 men's lacrosse players taken in the MLL Collegiate Draft and four in the supplemental draft. This year's four selections are the most in a single year for the Patriot League in the Collegiate Draft.
