CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - A total of 13 players from the Patriot League were honored when the Division I Men's Lacrosse All-America squads were announced by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) on Thursday.

Patriot League regular season and tournament champion Loyola University Maryland led the way with a total of five student-athletes receiving recognition, including four on the first and second teams.

Joseph Fletcher was chosen as first team on defense and Justin Ward (attack), Patrick Laconi (midfield) and Jack Runkel (goalkeeper) were tabbed for the second team. In addition to the quartet of seniors, Greyhounds junior Nikko Pontrello (attack) received honorable mention.

Army attack John Glesener was the other Patriot League player to make one of the first three teams.

In addition to Pontrello, seven other Patriot League players were recognized as USILA All-America honorable mention. Patriot League Tournament runner-up Lehigh put three players on the HM list with junior Dan Taylor (attack), junior Matt Poillon (goalkeeper) and sophomore Tripp Telesco (defense). Four other teams landed one player each: Army's Sam Somers (goalkeeper), Bucknell's Jackson Place (defense), Colgate's Robert Lawrence (defense) and Navy's Patrick Kiernan (LSM).

Fletcher, the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year and one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award as the nation's top player, becomes the first Loyola player in 25 years to earn first team honors in back-to-back seasons. The Syracuse, N.Y., native led all close defensemen nationally in ground balls (80) and ground balls per game (4.71), and he also set a career-high with 31 caused turnovers.

Runkel becomes the first Greyhounds goalkeeper to be named to the first or second team since 1995. The 2014 Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year and Tournament MVP posted 10 or more saves on 10 occasions this year and had a season-high of 19 against the U.S. Military Academy.

Ward, the Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year and an Honorable Mention All-American in 2013, passed out 53 assists this season and his 3.12 assists per game this year rank second in Division I.

Laconi posted career-highs in goals (11), ground balls (31) and caused turnovers (34). The only short-stick defensive midfielder to be named to the USILA first or second team, Laconi's 2.0 turnovers caused per game rank eighth nationally and tops amongst all non-pole defenders in Division I.

Glesener was a first-team All-Patriot League pick and finished his junior year with a career-high 43 goals -- including a career-best six goals in the season finale against Atlantic Coast Conference champion Notre Dame.
