West Point, N.Y.- - Third-seeded Colgate brought home its first-ever Patriot League Tournament Championship title on Sunday with a 13-9 victory over the No. 4 seed Bucknell at Army's Michie Stadium. The Raiders earned the Patriot League's automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Tournament with today's victory, which pushed the Raiders' win streak to six games.

Colgate (10-5, 4-2 PL) used three runs of three or more goals to defeat Bucknell (10-5, 4-2 PL) for the second time this season, also earning an 11-9 victory over the Bison during the regular season. Brandon Corp and Kevin Colleluori combined for six goals for the Raiders with Corp posting a game-high five points by adding two assists.

Colgate and Bucknell both advanced to the Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Tournament Championship Game with upset wins in the semifinal round. Colgate defeated No. 2 Navy, which had won all four previous Patriot League Tournament titles and Bucknell earned a win over top-seed and tournament host Army.

Colgate struck first with an Ian Murphy goal at 13:34 in the first quarter. The only other goal scored in the first period was by Bucknell's Chris Palmer to notch it up 1-1 at 6:41.

The Raiders posted the first goal of the second period on a Nick Monastero tally assisted by Corp at 13:41. Bucknell add two quick goals at the 11:29 and 11-minute marks with scores by Tim Brandau and Mark Lane. Colgate answered back with goals by Zack Craumer and Chris Mulholland to close out the second period with the Raiders up 4-3.

Murphy added his second goal of the game off a feed from Matt Lalli for the Raiders just under the 11-minute mark in the third quarter to start a 3-0 run for Colgate. Colleluori netted back-to-back goals with the first assisted by Corp and taking the second one in on his own. Bucknell was able to score twice before the close of the third period with Ryan Klipstein finding the back of the net at 4:09 and Joe Mele scoring with 59 seconds left of the clock. The end of the third quarter saw Colgate with a 7-5 advantage.

Colgate outscored Bucknell 6-4 in the final quarter. Bucknell's Doug Buckley pulled the Bison with in one with a score at the 12:54 mark to make it a 7-6 game. Colgate then reeled off three-straight goals, two by Corp and one from Craumer with Lalli assisting on two of the three tallies to increase Colgate's lead to four (10-6) at the 10:54 mark. At 9:08 Austin Winter put one in the net for the Bison with Lane assisting. The Raiders then went on another three-goal run with goals by Monastero, Colleluori and Corp. Bucknell scored the last two goals of the game with Mele and Mike Danylyshyn each putting one in but time ran out, giving Colgate the 13-9 victory.

Colgate's Corp was named the Patriot League Tournament Most Valuable after accumulating eight goals and three assists for 11 points over two games. Corp's eight goals and 11 points are Patriot League Tournament record totals. Lalli's seven assists over two tournament contests tied a Patriot League Tournament record, including four helpers in the title game.

In addition to Corp and Colleluori's three goals, three other Raiders came up with a multiple-goal outing with two each. Colgate goalkeeper Tim Harrington made 11 saves in the win over Bucknell.

For Bucknell, Mele recorded two goals and one assist for a team-high three points, while seven other Bison each scored one goal. Winter, Buckley and Lane each had two points in the championship tilt each with one goal and one assist. Matt Antonelli made 11 stops in goal for the Bison.

The 2008 NCAA Division I Men's Lacrosse Championship selection bracket will be announced live on ESPNU Sunday, May 4. The 16-team bracket will be revealed from 9 to 10 p.m. Eastern time.

The first round of the NCAA Tournament will take place May 10 or 11 on campus sites. The quarterfinals will be held May 17 at the Mids' Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and May 18 at Cornell's Schoellkopf Field. The semifinals and finals will be contested at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, Mass. May 24 and May 26.
