The site for the 2009 tourney was not determined until Saturday afternoon when Colgate hosted Bucknell in the teams' final Patriot League regular-season game of the year. The Bison scored a 19-11 win, making Bucknell the third team in the last three years to host the Patriot League Tournament. Colgate, which suffered its first Patriot League loss, will serve as the No. 2 seed. Navy's only Patriot League losses this season came to Bucknell and Colgate. The Mids will be the tournament's No. 3 seed. At 2-4, Army won a three-way tie with Lafayette and Lehigh for the final spot in the tournament. To reach the tournament, the Black Knights needed the Leopards to defeat the Mountain Hawks in Saturday's final game, but by no more than one goal.
