Freshman Andrew Lucas scored a career high five goals and added an assist, but it wasn't enough as Butler rallied for a 12-8 win over Lehigh on Sunday at the Ulrich Sports Complex.

The win improves the Bulldogs record to 2-1, while the loss drops Lehigh to 1-2 on the season.

Lucas scored three of the Mountain Hawks' first four goals, as Lehigh jumped out to a 4-1 lead with 9:12 left in the second quarter. Butler's Rich Pavlick responded with a pair of goals, to trim the lead to one - 4-3 - at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Bulldogs surged ahead to a 5-4 lead thanks to a Lawrence O'Toole score. Butler maintained a slim 6-5 lead heading into the final period.

The fourth quarter was all Butler, as the Bulldogs scored six times, despite each team taking nine shots in the quarter. Junior Ryan Ward scored three times in the final fifteen minutes for the Bulldogs, one of them coming on an extra-man opportunity.

Each team recorded 31 ground balls on the afternoon. After a slow start, Butler pounded the Lehigh net, firing off 20 second half shots. On the afternoon, the Bulldogs had 36 shots to the Mountain Hawks' 24. Butler scored twice on extra-man opportunities in the fourth quarter, while the extra man produced one fourth period score for Lehigh.

The Mountain Hawks return to action on Wednesday afternoon, as Lehigh hosts Manhattan at 4:00. The match will be broadcast live on the Lehigh web site at www.lehigh.edu.
