Patriot League Men's Lacrosse Release - 3.6.07

Navy's Andrew Dow and Colin Finnegan were each honored with weekly awards, taking home the Patriot League Defensive Player and Goalkeeper of the Week honors. From Army Justin Bokmeyer was named Patriot League Offensive Player of the Week and Holy Cross' Edison Parzanese the Patriot League Rookie of the Week.

Offensive Player of the Week
Justin Bokmeyer, Army Jr., M, El Cajon, Calif.

Bokmeyer totaled six goals and five ground balls last week that included two Patriot League wins. The junior midfielder netted a career-best four goals at Holy Cross, two of which took Army out of a 1-0 hole and the other two made the score 5-1. The Golden State native also tallied two goals versus Lafayette.

Defensive Player of the Week
Andrew Dow, Navy Sr., D, Hauppauge

Dow held North Carolina's leading goal scorer to scoreless in Navy's defeat of the fifth-ranked Tar Heels. Dow's mark came into the game with seven goals on the season and finished with just two shots on goal. The senior defender's efforts helped propel Navy back into the top-10 in the national rankings, at six after the upset win.

Goalkeeper of the Week
Colin Finnegan, Navy Sr., Arnold, Md.

Finnegan notched the win in goal over No. 5 North Carolina, making a career-high 14 saves. The senior goalie held the Tar Heels to under their 12.3 scoring average on the season, allowing just seven of their eight goals. Three of his 14 saves were made consecutively in a 10-second span in the fourth quarter.
 

 

Rookie of the Week
Edison Parzanese, Holy Cross Fr., A, Edgartown, Mass.

Parzanese totaled six goals, one assist and nine ground balls over two games last week. Versus No. 13 Army, he scored four of the Crusaders' five goals and scooped up seven ground balls. In an overtime loss to Lehigh, he netted two goals, notched an assist and had two ground balls. Parzanese leads all Patriot League freshman with 2.25 goals per game on the year.

Had 25 saves over two games...Won both contests.

Brooks Korvin, Army
So., A, Odenton, Md.
Notched two goals and three assists in a 2-0 week for the Black Knights.

Jason Peyer, Army
So., A, Williston Park, N.Y.
Came up with three goals on the week ...Had two ground balls at Holy Cross.

Kevin LoRusso, Army
So., M, Rocky Point, N.Y.
Posted two goals versus Lafayette ...Recorded two ground balls and a goal at Holy Cross.

Austin Winter, Bucknell
Fr., A, Boonton Twp., N.J.
Recorded two goals and two assists in a win over No. 19 Ohio State.

Billy Haire, Bucknell
So., D, Darien, Conn.
Part of a defense that allowed just six goals to No. 19 Ohio State...Limited one of the Buckeyes' top offensive threats to just two assists.

Nick Sciubba, Bucknell
So., GK, Sea Cliff, N.Y.
Had 10 saves in 7-6 win over No. 19 Ohio State.

Perry Menzies, Bucknell
So., M, Upperco, Md.
Scored two goals and launched a game-high 13 shots.

Brendan Hurley, Colgate

Notched five goals and two ground balls over two games.

Colin Hulme, Colgate

Picked up six ground balls versus No. 4 Cornell...Had one against Canisius.

Paul LeBlanc, Holy Cross

Came up with two goals and three assists versus Lehigh.

Had 10 saves against No. 13 Army.

Handed out a team-best five assists last week...Had one goal and three ground balls.
