CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Fresh off one of the most exciting seasons in recent years, six more contests featuring Patriot League men's lacrosse teams will air on national television on the ESPN family of networks this spring, it was announced Thursday.
The schedule begins Saturday, March 9, when Lehigh takes on Penn State at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., as part of the Whitman Sampler Independence Classic. Game time is set for 5 p.m. on ESPN3.
That opens a stretch of three straight weekends when League teams will be showcased on ESPN. A pair are slated for Sunday, March 17, as part of the Metropolitan Lacrosse Classic at Citi Field in Flushing, N.Y. Colgate takes on Michigan in a non-League game at 1:05 p.m. on ESPNU, followed by Holy Cross battling Navy in a League matchup at 4:05 p.m. on ESPN3.
A big non-League showdown is on the schedule next, as Lehigh hosts Massachusetts Wednesday, March 20 in Bethlehem, Pa., at 6 p.m. ESPNU is set to televise the contest.
Colgate and Navy will meet three days later, on Saturday, March 23, in another big League tilt at M&T Bank Stadium. Game time is 2 p.m. on ESPNU.
The sixth game announced for the ESPN schedule takes place Saturday, April 20, with Navy taking the short trip to Balitmore to battle Johns Hopkins at 4 p.m. on ESPNU.
Last month the Patriot League and CBS Sports Network announced a nine-game slate of nationally-televised men's contests, including all three tilts of the League Tournament Friday/Sunday, April 26/28.
