Moran Always Wanted To Play At Navy
Patrick Moran had dreamed of playing lacrosse at the Naval Academy since he was a little kid. That desire stemmed from routinely attending Navy athletics events with his father. Moran can thank his mother and a long-time family friend for making that dream a reality. Lafayette's Hot Start a Matter of Perspective
It was a seemingly innocuous hit at the time, on a play seen every day, every quarter, almost every possession. A midfielder, ball in his stick, trying to split a converging double team at midfield en route to a successful clear. Collett, Klipstein Give An Assist To Soldiers
The Bucknell men's lacrosse team is getting set for its annual showdown with rival Navy this week, and for juniors John Collett and Ryan Klipstein, it is more than just a battle of two nationally ranked teams who figure to contend for the 2010 Patriot League title. Collett, whose brother Mike graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2009 and is now serving aboard the USS Ashland, has partnered with his teammate Klipstein to launch the "Bison Never Forgets" program. Streep Makes Immediate Impact At Bucknell
The Bucknell men's lacrosse team had just seen 12th-ranked Navy explode for four straight fourth-quarter goals to wipe out all of a 7-3 deficit. Just five seconds remained on the Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium scoreboard, and the Bucknell players were huddled up on the frigid sideline during a timeout waiting for head coach Frank Fedorjaka and offensive coordinator Judd Lattimore to disclose their strategy. When play resumed, the Bison would have possession deep in the right corner, near the end line. They needed someone to make a play. After sitting out last season due to a knee injury, he is out to prove to his teammates, coach, and the Holy Cross community that he is still a dominant player. Former Navy lacrosse Captain Andy Tormey is part of the U.S. Military's efforts to help in the support of Haiti, which was recently rocked by violent earthquakes. Navy sports information director Stacie Michaud put Inside Lacrosse in touch with the former Midshipman to share his experiences from helping the thousands of people whose lives have been torn apart after the earthquake.
