French is Playing Catch Up
Much has been made about Maryland lacrosse standout Will Yeatman joining the school's football team this fall. The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder, who totaled 56 points in two seasons as an attackman for the Terrapins, is now attempting to contribute on the gridiron as a tight end. Navy has its own two-sport standout in sophomore Brye French, who saw playing time as a short stick defensive midfielder for the lacrosse team last spring and is now pushing for a starting spot at outside linebacker for the football team. Two Holy Cross Alums Excel At Lacrosse World Championship
Holy Cross graduates Connor Sweeney (Class of 2010) and Jim Carboneau (Class of 1974) both participated at the 2010 Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL) Men's World Championship in Manchester, England on July 15-24. Sweeney, who was coming off an outstanding senior season in goal for the Crusaders, played for Ireland, while Carboneau, who was a captain and a former assistant coach at Holy Cross, served as a referee at the tournament. The Patriot League was well represented on the Irish National Team with four former players in the Lacrosse World Championship. Ireland won the Orange Division at the FIL World Lacrosse Championships and went on to win six of seven games played in eight days.
