Finishing Up the Fall

Patriot League golf teams had a busy stretch of events to finish the fall season in October, and now after a winter break the attention will shift to the spring campaign and the Patriot League Championship on April 24-25.

Every team competed in multiple events in October, including four squads that took part in the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 17-18. Bucknell had the top finish among League teams by taking second out of nine teams in the event, while Lehigh came in fourth, Colgate was fifth and Lafayette placed eighth. Five other teams also recorded a top-three finish in October. Holy Cross was second at the Nichols Invitational, Lafayette placed second at the Trinity College Shootout, Army was second and Navy third at the Service Academy Classic, and Colgate came in third at the ECAC Championship. Colgate senior David Ake finished first in the field in that event, the only individual title for a Patriot League golfer in October.

Every Patriot League team is now off until the spring season begins in late February or March with an eye on the 2010 Patriot League Championship hosted by Colgate at Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton from April 24-25.
