Patriot League Golf Teams Set to Hit the Course
Sept. 11, 2009 Center Valley, Pa. - The Patriot League Championship remains a long way off, but the fall golf season gets in full swing this weekend with five teams in action, including three hosting invitationals. Five of the seven Patriot League golf teams will play host to a field by the end of October. All of the teams on the course this weekend will take part in an invitational hosted by a Patriot League member. Defending Patriot League champion Bucknell joins Colgate at the Colgate Invitational in Hamilton, on the course where the 2010 Patriot League Championship will be held, and Holy Cross and Army will each take part in the Mulekicker Invitational at West Point. Navy will host its Fall Classic in Annapolis. The only program that has opened thus far is Colgate, as the Raiders finished 11th of 13 teams at last week's Turning Stone Invitational. Lafayette and Lehigh will open their campaign next weekend, when they join Colgate and host Bucknell in the Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg. The same schools will convene again late in the fall at the Lehigh Invitational in Bethlehem. After fall invitationals in September and October, Patriot League golf teams will start their spring seasons in March. The Patriot League Golf Championship is set for April 24-25 at Colgate's Seven Oaks Golf Course in Hamilton. Bucknell returns as the defending champion, and also has senior Andrew Cohen back after winning the Patriot League individual title and posting a League Championship record score at last year's event.
