Sept. 8, 2011
Center Valley, Pa. - Four Patriot League golf teams will host an invitational during the fall season to highlight a schedule that brings at least a pair of League squads together at 10 tournaments throughout September and October.
Two Patriot League schools host invitationals to open the 2011-12 season this weekend, with Colgate and Navy each playing on their home course. Bucknell will join the Raiders at the Colgate Invitational, while Lafayette plays along with the Mids at the Navy Fall Classic.
Six teams will take part in a preview of the 2012 Patriot League Championship next week when Army, Colgate, Lafayette, Lehigh and Navy all join the host at the Bucknell Fall Invitational. The event will be played at the Bucknell Golf Course in Lewisburg, Pa., which will be the site of the Patriot League Championship on April 28-29, 2012.
In late October, Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette will play at the Lehigh Invitational along with the host Mountain Hawks. Six other tournaments or events throughout the fall include multiple Patriot League teams, including the Annual Star Match pitting Army against Navy in Annapolis on Oct. 1-2.
Defending Patriot League champion Army is the only team to open its schedule thus far as the Black Knights placed sixth of eight teams at the Battle in the Tetons in Victor, Idaho on Monday and Tuesday. Bucknell, Colgate, Lafayette, Navy and Holy Cross play their first fall event on Saturday and Sunday, while Lehigh opens at the Bucknell Fall Invitational next week.
