Patriot League Golf Fall Schedule

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Patriot League golf teams get their 2012-13 seasons in full swing this weekend, with the first of two events that will preview the spring's Patriot League championships.

Women's golf has been added as the 24th Patriot League championship sport, with Bucknell, Holy Cross and Lehigh set to compete during the 2012-13 season. This weekend, we'll get an early look at the first-ever championship when Bucknell welcomes Lehigh as part of the field at the 54-hole Bucknell Invitational. The inaugural Patriot League Women's Golf Championship will be held at the Bucknell Golf Club on Apr. 20-21. Boston University also has women's golf and will begin competing in the Patriot League in 2013-14.

Bucknell, Holy Cross and Lehigh will continue their fall schedules with multiple events, with the Bison women competing five times and the Crusaders and Mountain Hawks each hitting the course for four events.

On the men's side, Colgate, Navy, Bucknell and Lehigh will each host fall events that welcome Patriot League teams to the field. The last of those will be the Lehigh Invitational on Oct. 20-21, with Bucknell, Colgate and Lafayette all joining the Mountain Hawks at Saucon Valley Country Club. The course will host the 2013 Patriot League Men's Golf Championship on April 27-28.

This weekend, Colgate and Navy will host their fall events. The Raiders welcome Bucknell and Lehigh to their field, while the Mids will be joined by Lafayette in Annapolis. Next weekend's Bucknell Invitational includes the host along with Colgate and Lehigh.

There will be additional events with multiple Patriot League teams in the fall, along with a pair of rivalry dual matches. Navy and Army face off in the annual Star Match on Sept. 22-23 in Paramus, N.J., while Lehigh and Lafayette will square off on Oct. 9 in Gladestone, N.J.

Army is the only team that has competed, finishing ninth out of 13 squads at last weekend's Turning Stone Intercollegiate. The fall season spans into early November when the Black Knights and Colgate wrap things up at the Hummingbird Intercollegiate on Nov. 3-4.

Loyola University of Maryland also has men's golf and will begin play in the Patriot League in the 2013-14 season.
