Patriot League Announces Golf Academic Honor Roll
July 1, 2009
Center Valley, Pa. - Navy's David Miller, the 2009 Patriot League Men's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, is one of 33 golf student-athletes named to this year's Patriot League Academic Honor Roll. Miller posted a 3.63 grade-point average during the spring semester as a Quantitative Economics major at Navy, and was the captain for the Navy Golf team in his senior season. Miller also joins a group of seven student-athletes who were named to the All-Patriot League team while simultaneously being listed on the Academic Honor Roll. Miller is joined in this accomplishment by teammates Ryan Wielgus, a senior with an Economics major, and Peter Reilly who earned a 3.31 GPA in the spring of his freshman year. The others to be recognized on both lists are Bucknell juniors Brian Bartow and Andrew Cohen and a pair of Lehigh teammates, senior Shane Gilroy and sophomore Duncan Zeiders. Bucknell paced all Patriot League schools with seven student-athletes making the Academic Honor Roll. Navy tallied six student-athletes for Honor Roll selection, while Lafayette placed five, and three schools placed four on the list. To be eligible for the Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports. The criteria for awarding varsity letters are different at each institution.
