CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Army senior Pete Mangold (Allison Park, Pa.), the 2002 Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year, recorded a 3.57 grade-point average (GPA) during the spring semester, while Bucknell sophomore Scott Leeder (Franklin Lakes, N.J.) and Lehigh senior Brad Ispass (Oceanside, N.Y.) collected perfect 4.00 GPAs in spring term. Mangold, Leeder and Ispass were among the 26 student-athletes named to the 2002 Patriot League Golf Academic Honor Roll, announced today by Carolyn Schlie Femovich, Patriot League Executive Director.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and be awarded a varsity letter in one of the 13 League-sponsored championship sports in the winter or spring.

A total of 660 student-athletes were named to the League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll, including 25 with 4.00 GPAs. The Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll includes the sports of baseball, men's and women's basketball, golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's swimming & diving, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track & field.

Bucknell led the way with 171 candidates on the League's Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll and Holy Cross finished second with 131 honorees. On the Golf Academic Honor Roll, the Bison placed six student-athletes on the list, while Holy Cross and Lafayette nabbed five spots each.
