While summer is a period of relaxation for most college students, Colgate golfer Ricky Hayes is finding time for both an internship in New York City and playing in tournaments over his break. Hayes most recently placed sixth at the Palmer Cup.
"I've always been interested in finance and everyone from Colgate seems to go into finance so that's the direction we're geared towards going to. So far I like it," he said.
Hayes was a First-Team All-Patriot League performer in 2006, finishing tied for fifth at the Patriot League Golf Championship and followed that up with a tie for 16th at this year's tournament. Hayes plans to play in a few select events this summer, including the Connecticut Amateur and hopes to qualify for the U.S. Amateur.
