WEST POINT, N.Y. - Army golfer Matt Krembel has been named to the PING All-Northeast Region team, it was recently announced, for the second consecutive season.
PING announced its three All-America teams as well as honorable mentions and its All-Region selections. To be eligible to be an All-American, golfers first must be named All-Region.
Krembel recently completed a stellar sophomore season in which he won twice, finished second on two occasions and led the team in scoring.
The Shalimar, Fla., native, posted individuals wins in back-to-back events with a two-over-par 74 to capture the Peacock Invitational in Neshanic Station, N.J. and a three-under-par 141 to claim the top prize at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational. It marked his second win at the Littlestown, Pa., event.
Krembel placed second at the Patriot League Championships to earn First-Team All-League accolades and posted a three-over 219 at the Davidson Invitational to finish second.
He shot six rounds under par during the 2008-09 season, including a closing 70 on the way to an eighth-place finish at the First Market Bank Intercollegiate.
Krembel played in all 11 events this past season with a stroke average of 74.5 with five top-8 showings.
Krembel is the second Army player to earn All-Region honors, joining Austin Luher in 2005.
