WEST POINT, N.Y. - Juniors Scott Manley and Pete Phipps represented the Army golf team on the New England All-Star teams, which were released Wednesday. Manley was selected to the first team for the second straight year while Phipps earned second team accolades.
Manley and Phipps guided the Black Knights to the 2004 Patriot League Championship in late April, earning Army its sixth automatic berth into the NCAA Regionals.

Manley, who appeared in his second regional tournament in three years, was the top Black Knight finisher once again with a 54th place showing. Manley posted identical scores of 76 in the first two rounds before shooting even par in the third and final round to finish with a 54-hole score of 222. Serving as team captain this season, Manley was the most consistent golfer on the squad this spring, posting a team-low stroke average of 74.8.
Meanwhile, Phipps' 76.6 stroke average ranks third on the team. One of his best efforts of the season came at the Bradford Creek Intercollegiate in Greenville, N.C., in early April when he tied for 29th place overall with a career-best three-round score of 220 (72-74-74). Phipps also earned All-Patriot League merits with a seventh place showing at the conference tournament.
Also of note, Manley was one of eight student-athletes named to the 2004 CoSIDA All-Academic District I At-Large Team. The only golfer named to the second team, Manley is an Economics major who boasts a 3.673 grade point average. He joined Niagara's Brad Chapman and Cornell's Kevin Scelfo as the only three golfers in the district to be selected by CoSIDA to the first or second team.
