CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - Army's William Park placed in a tie for 41st while Patriot League champion Navy finished 13th at the NCAA Men's Golf Ann Arbor Regional from Thursday-Saturday.
Park was the highest finisher among Patriot League representatives, shooting an eight-over 221 that included a pair of rounds at just one-over par (77-72-72).
Navy placed last in the 13-team field, but the Mids showed improvement in each of their three rounds. Navy came in with a 79-over par 931 by shooting 322-306-303 in the tournament.
Drew Selby led the Mids with a 12-over 225, while Navy was also represented by Peter Reilly (230), August Jonas (239), Tim Shield (241) and Tyler Kuhn (243). Selby's final-round 72 was the best score of the weekend for Navy, while Reilly fired a 73 on the last 18 holes.
No. 6 Southern California won the regional with a score of 11-under par. Oregon (-10), Kent State (-8) and Virginia (-6), all ranked in the top 20, followed. No. 43 TCU took the last spot in the NCAA Championship by placing fifth with a 3-under par, 10 shots ahead of sixth-place Notre Dame and North Carolina State.
North Carolina State's Albin Choi shot 10-under to win the individual title, and will also advance to the NCAA Championship.
Navy earned the Patriot League's automatic berth to the NCAA Men's Golf Regionals by winning the League Championship by three strokes over Army on April 28-29 at Bucknell Golf Club. Park received an automatic spot as well as he won the individual title at the Patriot League Championship by six strokes.
