Former Lehigh standout Henry D'Alberto made a serious charge but fell just short in U.S. Open local qualifying last week in Lewisburg. D'Alberto made it all the way to a playoff at Bucknell Golf Club, but bogeyed the first two holes, which puts him as the first alternate of the qualifier.

D'Alberto shot an even-par 70 to reach a three-way playoff for the two spots at next month's regional qualifier. During his time at Lehigh, D'Alberto was the first place medalist at the 1997 Patriot League Championships, as he shot a 224 to lead Lehigh to the team title.

Over his four-year career at Lehigh, D'Alberto was a four-time All-Patriot League player, a member of the NCAA District II Team, and he led Lehigh to one of its greatest seasons in history in 1996-97. During that year, D'Alberto and his teammates won the Patriot League Championship, the Lehigh Valley Collegiate Tournament and the Cornell/Colgate Invitational.

D'Alberto collected four medals that season and was named the team's MVP. Since his graduation from Lehigh in 1997, D'Alberto has spent time on the NGA Hooters Tour and the Cleveland Golf Tour.
