LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The Army golf team concluded the remaining six holes of the second round of the NCAA Central Regional tightening its hold on 26th place Saturday morning at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Little Rock, Ark.
Due to two rain delays, Friday's second round was called for darkness and the Black Knights played the remaining six holes this morning before the final round started.
Scott Manley continues to lead the Black Knights tied for 97th place after the opening two-rounds. Manley shot a five-over-par 77 in the second 18-holes, one stroke off his first round 76.
Kevin Lee improved six strokes in the second round to finish with a 77, tied with Manley for the round's best performance. Lee had a 36-hole aggregate of 160.
Ryan Hazelton shot a second-round 80 and improved three spots to tie for 133rd place. Hazelton shot an 85 in the first round.
Pete Mangold and David Crawford shot matching 84s in the second round to remain tied with each other. They sit even in 130th place after an opening 80 in the first 18-holes.
The Black Knights returned to the NCAA Regional after a seven-year absence. Army participated in the East Regional on six occasions from 1989 to 1995. The Black Knights highest finish was 16th in 1992 at the East Regional at Colgate. Army also played in the NCAA Championship in 1986 taking 31st place.
Army won the Patriot League Championship on April 21 by an impressive 29 strokes to receive the leagues automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals.
The Black Knights will conclude its season later Saturday afternoon at the final round of the NCAA Central Regional at the Pleasant Valley Golf Course in Little Rock, Ark.
