Center Valley, Pa. - After winning the individual title and leading his team to its first crown since 2005 at the Patriot League Golf Championship on April 30-May 1, Army senior Matt Krembel has added another honor with the Patriot League Golfer of the Month award for April.
Patriot League April Golfer of the Month
Matt Krembel, Army, Sr., Shalimar, Fla.
Krembel shot a 71-72-70 to finish with an even-par 213 at the Patriot League Championship at the Naval Academy Golf Course, two strokes ahead of the field. He was named the Patriot League Player of the Year for capturing the individual title at the League Championship, and helped Army hold off Navy by four strokes to win the team crown. Krembel also became just the eighth golfer to earn All-Patriot League honors in each of his four seasons, making the first team for the second time.
The League Championship capped an outstanding month where Krembel placed in the top 12 in three of his four events, including a runner-up finish at the Quaker Invitational in Philadelphia on April 4. Krembel averaged a 73.3 for the month, with five of his nine rounds at 72 or better.
Krembel caps his career with his second Golfer of the Month award after previously taking the honor for October 2008. He becomes one of five golfers in Patriot League history to win the monthly award multiple times.
