Annapolis, Md. - With a rookie and a veteran sharing first place, Army took the overall lead by six shots over Navy through 54 holes at the Patriot League Golf Championship at Naval Academy Golf Course on Saturday.

Freshman Anthony Kim and senior Matt Krembel shot mirroring 71-72 rounds to share the individual lead with a score of 1-over 143, while reigning Rookie of the Year Matt Philie completes an impressive trio high in the standings by shooting 73-72 to place fourth with a 3-over 145.

The trio helped stake the Black Knights to rounds of 293-287 for a 12-over 580 through the first 36 holes. Each player shot a 72 on the afternoon round, with William Park carding a 71 for the impressive 287 score.

Navy follows the Black Knights, with freshman David Hall in third place overall after shooting 72-72 for a 2-over 144. The Mids shot a 298-288 to total an 18-over 586 through the first 36 holes. Tim Shield boosted the afternoon round with the only under-par round of the day with a 2-under 69 and stands tied for fifth, while Ben Hayes is in ninth after firing a 74-73 for a 5-over 147.

Defending champion Lafayette stands in third place after shooting a 27-over 595 (297-298), and is followed in the overall standings by Holy Cross (604), Bucknell (605), Lehigh (613) and Colgate (641).

Four players stand tied for fifth place at 4-over par 146, with Lafayette's Carter Rufe (74-72), Bucknell's Will Bachman (73-73) and Holy Cross' Steve Zychowski (73-73) joining Shield (77-69). A pair of Lafayette golfers fill out the top 10 with Rob Robertson (74-74) and Tyler Ostrovsky (75-73) each shooting a 6-over par 148.

The top of the leaderboard features a mix of newcomers and accomplished players in the Patriot League Championship. Krembel and Ostrovsky are both three-time All-Patriot League selections, Robertson won the individual title at last year's championship, Hayes (2008) and Philie (2010) are former Rookie of the Year winners and Zychowksi was a first-team All-League recipient last season. And they are all competing with two outstanding freshman in Kim and Hall.

The teams will play the final 18 holes at par-71 Naval Academy Golf Course with tee times beginning at 8 a.m. on Sunday. Army will go for its League-leading 10th title, and first since 2005, while Navy shoots for its sixth Patriot League crown and first since 2008 with the rest of the field hoping to make a comeback.
