PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - The second and final round of the URI Spring Invitational was cancelled today due to rain in the Northeast and, as a result, the 12 participating teams will count their first round scores as final results in the tournament standings. Army placed third with a composite score of 299, seven strokes behind the leader and host Rams.

Army also placed four golfers in the top 20 in the individual competition. Junior Austin Luher and freshman Joey Cave tied for seventh, each with three-over 74s. Freshman David Padgalskas carded a 75 in his Black Knight debut to tie for 13th while classmate Patrick Beverly tied for 17th with a 76.

Although Army's 2005 regular season has come to a close, the Black Knights will have two and a half weeks to prepare for the 2005 NCAA Regionals.

The official selection announcement from the NCAA will take place Monday, May 9, at which time the Black Knights will find out which of three sites they will be traveling to for the regional tournament.

Army, competing in its second consecutive NCAA Regional, could be sent to Nashville, Tenn., Stanford, Calif., or South Bend, Ind., for the three-day event, which is slated for May 19-21.
