PORTSMOUTH, R.I. - Junior Austin Luher and freshman Joey Cave registered 74s in the first round of the URI Spring Invitational to lead the Army golf team to a third place showing after one round at the Green Valley Country Club in Portsmouth, R.I.
Freshman David Padgalskas, playing in his first intercollegiate tournament, registered a 75 to tie for 13th place. Freshman Patrick Beverly is tied for 17th after compiling a 76 and Matt Hanlon is tied for 47th after tallying an 85.
George Washington's Tim Johnson leads the individual competition with a three-under 68.
The second and final round will commence at 11:00 a.m. from the Green Valley Country Club.
