CENTER VALLEY, Pa. -- The Colgate Raiders and their fans stepped up to vote Gavin McCarney's game-winning touchdown pass to Brian Lalli at Holy Cross as the 2013 Twitter Fan Vote Football Play of the Year.

Trailing 24-21 at Holy Cross, Colgate forced a turnover at the goal line and drove to the 31-yard-line, where McCarney dropped back to pass, pump faked and then hit Brian Lalli in stride on the deep post for the game-winning touchdown with 59 seconds left.

The play was one of five selected by the Patriot League to be voted on by fans, and just like the play itself, McCarney and Lalli found themselves trailing late, but a flurry of votes for #McCarneysLateStrike came in over the last 12 hours of voting to give the duo the honor.

For McCarney, it's the second year in a row that he has earned enough votes to win the play of the year.

Both players joined the Patriot League Network via Skype to talk about the play, the defensive stand and much more, including the retirement of 18-year coach Dick Biddle.
